Vin Lananna, Head Track and Field Coach, University of Oregon and Co-Chair of Eugene ‘08
“On behalf of the athletes who competed in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, thank you for your personal attention to the myriad details associated with building the competition venues at Hayward Field. The upgrades to the facility were a fantastic success and you and your staff played pivotal roles in that outcome.
As you know, we spent many hours researching the perfect athletic surface for the oval, the jumping surfaces, and the throwing venues. I believe that the performances at the 2008 U.S.Olympic Team Trials speak to the work that you and your team dedicated to this project. The jumpers, sprinters, hurdlers, and the distance runners spoke gave us positive feedback about the surface. Based on all of the performances in all of the disciplines, it is clear that we achieved our goal for constructing a high performance facility that also allows adequate recovery between rounds of competition. I appreciate your willingness to respond to our specific and unique needs for Hayward Field.
Your team effectively met the specifications necessary for us to receive the IAAF Class I certificate, and we appreciate the professional manner in which you helped us achieve this very important goal. Additionally, your willingness to do the necessary work on the existing runways at the practice facility was much appreciated by the Eugene community.
Hayward Field will continue to host significant events over the next four years, and we are confident that the experience for the athletes will be heightened as a result of your work. We look forward to a continued partnership with Beynon Sports Surfaces in the future.”
Harvey Glance, Head Track and Field Coach, University of Alabama and 16-time All-American, three-time Olympian and 1976 gold medal winner
“I wanted to take a quick moment to let you know what a tremendous job Beynon Sports Surfaces has done working with the University of Alabama on our outdoor track and field facility. The surface is fast, and extremely responsive to my athletes, and unlike sheet good products we can train on the track every day. Providing a track that is safe for daily training, but still allowing for some of the fastest times in the world is unique to Beynon Sports Surfaces and I wanted to thank you for developing such a superior product.
Additionally, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the customer service and support that Beynon Sports Surfaces provides, not only to the University of Alabama, but to all of the track and field community. It is the financially strong organizations like yours that separate themselves from the countless other track and field manufacturers and contractors in the industry today and truly distinguish themselves as the market leader.
On behalf of the University of Alabama and myself, I wanted to thank you for providing a track and field surface that my athletes can use each day without injury, and backing that product with outstanding workmanship, customer service and support.”
Lawrence Johnson, Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at Clemson
“Thank you so much for your excellent work on the renovation of Clemson University’s outdoor track and field facility. The surface you have designed, manufactured and installed for us is tremendous – extremely fast but unlike the sheet good rubber products in the market today, it is very training friendly. Beynon Sports Surfaces has really done an outstanding job developing state of the art track and field surfaces that allow my athletes to spend more time competing and less time in the training room addressing hamstring and joint stress injuries.
Also, I just wanted to thank you and Gary Wilson for the great customer service and workmanship you have demonstrated to us at Clemson University. Beynon Sports Surfaces is known for supporting our sport and we appreciate everything you have done for Clemson University.
Thank you for developing such a fast, but training friendly, track and field surface and working tirelessly to provide highest level of customer service in the track and field surfacing market today.”
Ralph Spry, Head Track and Field Coach for Auburn University
“I opted to go with Beynon track over Mondo for several reasons. First and foremost, I believe it to be a superior product. Our Beynon track has been in place since the fall of 2005 though if you came out to our track today, you would think it had just been poured yesterday. The surface has held up superbly which is why the University of Oregon has opted to go with Beynon as well.
Furthermore, the Beynon track is easier on the athletes. I spoke with several coaches about their tracks and the common consensus was that other surfaces were much harder and injuries were more common place, particularly in colder climates. The poured surface is substantially more forgiving and since our track has been in place stress fractures have become almost non-existent in our program.
Finally, the customer service from Beynon has been outstanding. We have needed no repairs on our track because of the quality of their product, however, Beynon has been there for us all the way.”
Pat Henry, Head Track and Field Coach for Texas A&M University and former head coach of LSU
“We are very pleased with the facility. The integrity of the surface as well the wear of the surface has met all our expectations. We have found the surface to be one that is forgiving, which is needed for everyday training and yet a very fast and competitive surface for competition.
Once again I want to thank you for your prompt service, when needed and your willingness to work with my staff and me.”
Lars Porter, Head Track Coach Birmingham-Southern College
“As an athlete, I am seasoned in the different qualities of track surfaces. Many surfaces provide the firmness required for fast times, but prove to be too hard for athletes to train on without injury. Other surfaces feel soft to the step, making them wonderful for training, but difficult to run fast during quality competitions. Beynon's BSS 1000 offers the best blend of a soft yet responsive surface at a reasonable price.
Birmingham-Southern College compared many surfaces and the companies that offered them. In an industry overwhelmed with technical jargon, quality assurance issues, and warranty concerns, Beynon Surfaces established themselves as a trustworthy company in every area. They explained exactly what surfaces are recommended for our region and how they would install the product or assist with installation. Beynon offers a great warranty, keeping in touch with their clients regardless of issues. And regarding cost, BSS 1000 is well under the industry standard for such a quality product. Beynon proved to be the better company in every area.
One final area I researched was with larger universities. I found that wealthy institutions, with the ability to use any company they wanted, were choosing Beynon to surface their tracks. Not only were they choosing Beynon for the initial surfacing job, but more importantly, customers were selecting Beynon to resurface their track. This action speaks volumes for the company.”
Ernest E. Moss, Head Men and Women’s Cross Country/ Track and Field Coach at Virginia State University
“So with the help of Beynon Sport Surfaces we had the BSS 100 installed. The system installed provided 13 millimeters of a chemically bonded rubberized surface that not has significantly reduced the injuries and allowed more training time for my athletes on the track and runways. By reducing injuries the change in track systems in less than a 6 month period helped Virginia State University have 10 NCAA Division II national qualifiers and helped the men’s program to a 14th place finished at the NCAA Division II Indoor Nationals.
To expand on the great qualifiers that Virginia State University has produced in this short period of time, there have been some phenomenal time ran in the track events ranging from the 100, 200, 400 and 800m runs on the men’s side. The best times in the listed events are all FAT: 10.37, 21. 23, 45.23 (1st) and 45.81 (2nd), 1:51. 97. These times were run on April 18th at the 2009 CIAA Outdoor Championships held here at Virginia State. We have also had at least five 24+foot performances on our runways in the men’s long jump and over four 40’+ performances in the women’s triple jump.
So as you can see that all these performances were not only attributed to the hard of the student athletes and the coaches but the BSS 100 Beynon Sports Performance Track System. I would recommend this surface with flying colors to anybody.”
