The installation of the BSS 1000 13 mm embedded running track is part of a five-year $28.8 million dollar comprehensive strategic plan by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at West Texas A&M University (a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association), who seeks to further the institution's mission of educating tomorrow's leaders by providing a comprehensive and highly competitive athletic program for the benefit of participants, the student body, the community and West Texas A&M University.
The BSS 1000 is an IAAF Certified surface, installed with a bio-engineered force reduction layer which integrates very fine SBR rubber with environmentally friendly Polyurethane to create an impermeable shock absorbing cushion which will allow West Texas A&M to provide superior, championship-caliber athletic facilities for training and competition for the benefit and enjoyment of student-athletes, fans and the community.
“I feel as if the Beynon running track will give us a definite edge when it comes to training, performance and recruiting. My athletes have made great gains in their performance and we have come to find that the new surface is great for everyday training” expressed Darren M. Flowers, Head Track and Field Coach, West Texas A&M University.
“Beynon Sports Surfaces’ ability to work with Coach Flowers, his staff and athletes to provide the BSS 1000 track and field surface makes this venue an ideal facility for both daily training and NCAA competition,” commented Drew Beynon, Vice President of Beynon Sports.
