Installation of BSS 1000 13mm TUNED track replaces Mondo track surface
HUNT VALLEY, MD - Virginia Tech University recently selected Beynon Sports Surfaces to install the BSS 1000 13mm TUNED track and field surface over their existing Mondo surface.
The old track surface had become “too hard” after years of use and did not provide the necessary shock absorption needed for athletes’ daily training.
The BSS 1000 is an IAAF Certified surface, installed with a bio-engineered force reduction layer which integrates very fine SBR rubber with environmentally friendly Polyurethane to create an impermeable shock absorbing cushion.
“There is no question that our new Beynon surface will supply the shock absorption ability I have been wanting for our outdoor facility for the past ten years,” remarked Dave Cianelli, Virginia Tech’s Director of Track & Field and Cross Country. “Our athletes have already told me how great the new track feels – they love it! This surface will significantly decrease the number of stress related injuries. I know we are all looking forward to showing off our track to recruits and visiting teams and coaches”.
“Beynon Sports Surfaces’ ability to work with Coach Cianelli, his coaching staff and athletes to provide a customized track and field surface makes this venue an ideal facility for both daily training and NCAA competition,” commented Drew Beynon, Vice President of Beynon Sports.
